What could go wrong in hiring without a proper background check

What could go wrong in hiring without a proper background check Talent acquisition and management requires a huge investment of time and money. In recent days, Employee background screening plays an important role in the process of recruitment. Majority of firms do background checks on their job applicants before making an official hiring decision. In fact, recruiting a wrong candidate affects a company’s growth in more ways than one. That is why; a thorough background verification of employees should be done to lead a healthy organization. In recent days, third-party background verifiers are most preferred by companies to run a verification process as there are chances for reports to be biased in case of in-house verification. Inaccurate background information can be devastating and, it often leads to incorrect selection. Recruiters tend to compromise with background checks and verification to meet timelines for hiring especially when they are hiring in hundreds. Of course, it is not a healthy practice and, it is precarious than we could think of. Let’s have a look into few possibilities of what could happen in case of improper background verification. Employee background screening: Trusting employees is a key to success. We need accurate background verification details to trust and recruit an employee. Failing to do so might result in issues like leaking confidential information, data theft, cybercrime, and harassment etc. We can ascertain risk factor in new hires with the help of background verifiers as they dig deeper into person’s work history. Issues like cybercrime have the potential to impact the whole industry. Educational Verification: Recruiting a suitable candidate can be a difficult task when almost 52% of resumes contain false information to secure a job. Performing a background check is an opportunity to verify the information provided by the candidates. This check verifies the certification or educational claims of a job applicant. Thereby, a company can assess whether a job applicant is suitable to handle particular responsibility or not. Criminal record check: Hiring a candidate without a proper check on criminal records is a kind of risk that any business owners prefer not to take. Most of the applicants do not disclose their criminal records when asked at the time of interview. Bringing a person on board without doing a proper verification might increase the chances of hiring a candidate with certain histories like financial fraud and harassment etc. Psychometric analysis: A Psychometric test is a scientific method to measure a person’s behavior, intelligence, critical reasoning, motivation, personality profile, mental capabilities and many more. Generally, companies conduct a psychometric test hopefully to choose the best fit for the designated role based on their aptitude skill and character. As per the Global HR Research report, 39% of companies report a decline in productivity due to bad hires. Thus, the Psychometric test helps business firms to avoid such productivity issues. Conclusion: The whole summary is that technical tests tell whether a person can do a job, but employee background verification assures whether the candidate is actually fit for the Organization’s Safety and Culture. Thus, business firms who are serious about attracting and retaining the best human resource should do a proper background verification to derive better results. Why are background checks important despite roadblocks?

Why are background checks important despite roadblocks? Roadblocks and the Checklist Comprehensive background checks are moving into the limelight slowly but steadily. There is a lot of acceptance for it in many companies now. It acts as a measure of failsafe for most of the companies. It favors the organization in many ways. It helps the company in determining whether a candidate they hire for a job is actually the right candidate for that job. It also helps to authenticate all the details provided by the candidate in their resume. Basically it does the job of finding out the right fit for a job. Why do we need a Background Check? First key factor of performing comprehensive background checks is to eliminate the high risk of hiring a candidate who is not eligible for the particular job. They may be criminal or even a fraudster. They might be incompetent for the job. By conscientiously scanning all their important documents like proof of residence, government issued ID cards, educational authorizing documents, history of work, criminal records and even in some cases psychometric evaluation organizations can avoid hiring such candidates. In this fast paced world, everything is done in a jiffy. Time management is the key for success for any company. They can’t possibly concentrate on each and every candidate properly. So, these comprehensive background checks will help them to find the misfits easily. It is true that the action of a single person who is incompetent or malicious will damage the whole image and relationships of an organization. In such case, no precautions are too stringent.  A trust must always exist between the employer and their employees. It is the basic requirement for any organization. The comprehensive screening mechanisms help in assuring the company that their resources are genuine and have same interest as the company at heart. If you take the case of India, it is marching towards the adaptation of comprehensive background verification. It uses this method for new employees and KYE processes for staffs already present in the company. The country is continuously plagued by scams. To avoid these kinds of intolerant scams like PNB escapade, more than ever, we need to drive towards comprehensive screening mechanism. Considering the sheer size and complexity it is really a difficult task. Organizations cannot source all the relevant information required to perform a legitimate background check. They also require information like educational certificates, police & court record, report of credits etc. which must be obtained from a magnum number of organizations like courts, financial institutions, police precincts and universities.  The functionality in such bureaucratic organizations might be completely tiring to the companies. It is indeed a difficult & long-drawn process. Increasing number of institutions and organizations make it furthermore complicated for them to coordinate and source relevant documents of an applicant. Third party background verifiers comes in handy to proceed with such complicated verifications as they are well equipped with sources. The bottomline is that, background screening on new hires is worth the effort despite a number of roadblocks. Companies should do a thorough background verification on employees as it reduces the risk of hiring a wrong candidate. Therefore, with the help of background verification report, a company could hire a potential candidate and witness a progressive growth. An Insight on Background verification Checks in India

An Insight on Background verification Checks in India Unlike in the western countries, importance of Background verification for Employment purpose has not been realized in India. Usually Background checks are carried out in India by the organizations only when their end client insist the same. Unless otherwise there is a specific requirement from the clients, most of the companies will not prefer to perform Background Verification since they feel it is an additional cost to the company, but it is not so. Factually the Background Verification process helps to avoid the unexpected expenditure on account of bad hires and to get a trustworthy candidate on board. With the proliferation in false/ fabricated information in the recent years, many companies in India are including background verification in their employee recruitment and screening process. Few companies used to consider the Background Verification as part of HR job to verify and determine the background of the employees. This is also limited with only Previous Employment Checks and Educational Checks of the employee. From this practice, companies could cut down a marginal cost, but they may get only 40 to 50% efficiency in the process. Since the HR person usually has the pressure of headhunting and recruiting the candidate based on the JD (Job Description) within the stipulated time, they normally think that the Background Verification would be an additional responsibility or additional burden. During the course of the recruitment process, all the HR’s focus would be on finding the resource suitable for the Employment Role and may have some soft corner with the candidate while interacting with them. If the candidate is fit for the vacancy, they may be convinced and compromise psychologically and perform the Background Checks only as an HR formality. Whereas Third Party Background Screening would pay a vital role in eliminating bad hires and support the HR’s to take the right decision on their hiring. It is always recommended to approach a professional verification company. This is because with their expertise in this field the process will be completed without any bias and the sources will be pretty reliable. Importance of housekeeping Verification - Verifitech

Importance of Housekeeping verification

Importance of Housekeeping Verification Reference checking is a vital part of any recruitment process. Whether an agency is doing this, or you are directly interviewing and selecting a new housekeeper to work for your household. A CV, interview and trial will only give you so much information. Actually speaking to previous employers can give an invaluable insight into the housekeeper’s level of experience, skills and personality. Make sure you obtain a proper reference check using our top tips. What kind of references to expect, and request Written references A housekeeper might provide written references from former employers already which gives you a good start. The fact that former employers have made the effort to write and provide references is normally a good sign. It doesn’t, however, give you full security just yet.All written references should be verified. When hiring a new housekeeper it is important to be diligent and thorough, and not just assume these references are all truthful. Unfortunately there are people out there pretending to be something they’re not, and you, your family or your principal could be the victim of this if written references are not verified. Therefore ask for email addresses and phone numbers of the referees, so you can verify the reference is indeed truthful. Just contact details When not having written references, a candidate might just provide a phone number or an email address from a previous employer. This is not a problem, but try to have a list of questions ready (see below) when you speak to the referee, just so that you can get all the information you were after.Do ask the candidate to provide both email addresses and telephone numbers. Although people can be busy, find a right time to speak to a referee as it will probably give you much more information, and a general feel of how the candidate was when they were working for the referee. If email is the only option, then make sure you list several questions (as a little bit further below in this article) so you can still get a fairly good idea of the person. Character references Character references are references written/provided by a personal connection of the candidate. This could be a friend, family member, or former colleague – a character reference is never from a former employer. Many agencies will not accept character references, or will only use it to accompany at least 2 professional references. Character references can be a good indicator of personality, but be mindful of them because they don’t necessarily give an unbiased opinion of the candidate. Temp, long term and recent referencesFinally, be critical of the quality of the reference. There is a big difference between a reference from a temp role, where the housekeeper possibly worked as cover for a week, or a long term full time role with a family. Although references for short term and temp roles could be useful, make sure the candidate does give you the contact details of the most recent, and long term employments. Are there no recent jobs, or has every role been short term? If so, be sure to ask why. There might be a very plausible explanation for this (perhaps the candidate was studying, or having other responsibilities at the time) but it is important to get clarity on this. House Keeping Verification Global Staffing Industry has estimated India as the one of largest markets and also says that the country has the potential to become the largest staffing industry in the world given the support from Indian govt. in ratifying certain labour laws or regulations and with the demographic edge that the country has over China in the long run. Global experience in the staffing industry emphasizes on flexi staffing which provides flexible solutions and is advantageous to both employee and the employer. The following were some of the other key aspects to note down from the study. India is among the top five nations in flexi staffing industry. The global staffing market projects India to be among the largest staffing countries along with China, Brazil and South Africa. In developing countries the staffing industry is in a critical stage where more than 90% of the workforce is involved in unorganized sector where there is almost no social security. The Indian job market has shown a modest growth rate in 2013 with the public sector large-scale hiring.
